I'm in my second period in one of them braces!!
Among other things I snapped my cruciate ligament(6 1/2 years ago) and had 14 operations so far. I was in one of them 7 months ago for a month, and i'm in it now for at least 2 months!

Well its good news that you are doing well! Bit of a bum about driving but you will get there!
Since my last post on the 29th April I saw my consultant on the 30th and was admitted that afternoon!! I was operated on around 11pm that night to try and clear out the infection. I was then kept in for 4 weeks and operated on a further 4 times to clear this infection!! I HATE hospitals!!
Since then however things have gone quite well, i'm attending physio 3 times a week and have been allowed to drive since the 1st July. I'm now walking without any knee brace at all which is a first for over 4 and a half years! but I do still need a stick for stability until I get my muscle tone back, then its just a series of bone grafts to stabilise the bone itself in 12 to 18 months.
Good luck with the recovery, you will get there!
