Just removed my old steering guard to put on heavy duty steering bars.
Is there much point on putting it back on seeing as it didnt protect the sxle, just the drag link?

It may still protect the steering box from hard knocks, but my own view is the common sheet metal type steering gurads can be more of a hinderance than a benefit. A friend nearly had a nasty accident with his bobtail after failed hill climb due partly to the steering guard scraping up so much mud earlier that it restricted the movement of the steering and could bearly turn one way.
I assume your not reliant on the steering guard for recovery points.
