Title: TD5 Rear Wiper
Post by: Def90 on May 08, 2009, 14:34:24
Bit of advise please.

Having replaced my rear wiper blade, I noticed that the arm now only moved slowly across the rear window - I put this down to the new blade having extra grip. Last evening when reversing the rear wiper began move then stuck in mid wipe. I have checked the fuses and all seems well.

My question is: Is this likely to be the motor or should I be checking relays etc.

Any input welcome
Cheers

I should mention the washer works fine. Does anyone have a spare motor in the Bristol area?

Was it working fine before you changed the blade?

It maybe just lack of use, try removing the arm and run it with the front wipers to try & loosen things up a bit if you've not used it that much.

I've not looked at the motor on my TD5 yet but if it's anything like the one in the 300 series then you can take it apart.
The one on my old 300 went like this and when I took it apart I found that some grease from the armature shaft had somehow got onto where the brushes run and was causing a bad connection. Once cleaned and put back together then it ran until I sold the Disco.

Maybe worth a look to save some money.  ;)

Thanks Budgie - I'll give this ago.

BTW, how do you get the lights to flash on your picture?

It's an animated GIF I made using Photoshop.  ;)
