Hi guys i have a 1991 rangie fitted with a 200tdi which had a new cutch kit and clutch fork just over a year ago when i fitted the tdi, however i am now getting a loud rattling noise if i take my foot of the clutch too quickly the rattling stops if i put the clutch down or take my foot off completely before engaging first again. It only does when drawing off in first gear if i let my foot of slowly it is fine has anybody had this problem or can somebody tell what it is likely to be thanks

Sounds to me like the thrust bearing, was it replaced in the clutch change?
-
thrust bearing was changed so everything was new at the same time i wondered if it could be clutch fork but why would it rattle
-
Trying to get my headround exaclty what's going on (can't think at the moment) but can you rmeeber if the clutch has got wet at all, been wading or floods at all?
-
clutch hasnt got wet as far as i know. It started rattling about 2 months after being fitted but only did it occassionally now it does almost once a day as i said it only does when i draw of in first changing up or down doesn't affect it.It has got me puzzled i dont really want to strip it down unless i have to.
One thing is though the gearbox is a vm gearbox on a 200tdi engine i just changed the bell housing and fitted a specially made spigot bearing in the back of the crank

i would say thrust bearing, did you put copper slip on it?
-
yep put copper slip on it spoken to my mate whose owns his own garage he says it is thrust bearing so i will wait until it gets worse then fit new clutch etc.
