Hiya
I think ive got a whining / grumbling noise coming from my front diff
It only does it under load, not on overrun. I removed the front prop and the noise goes away.
How many bearings are there in the diff? 3?
Can you change the pinion one, without actually removing the diff? (I know i wont be able to change the bearing race without removing it)
Thanks,

silly question, but have you checked your prop uj's?

If you want to change the pinion bearings (2 of) you will need to remove the diff and strip it down, not a hard job really.
Ive done it, just need to put it back together  :?

Uj's are fine, CV's are fine, wheel bearings are fine.
Its definatly coming from the diff....
are there any pics of diffs anyone knows of that show where the bearings are, and what type?

Right - from that picture I hope to be able to say that its only the ones on the input shaft that are screwed. If I turn a wheel by hand, and the other one spins the oposite way, its smooth.
If i turn the input shaft where the prop goes, its quite rough - and there is a bit of play there...
Ill know more tonight when I take it apart!
