folks,
you thoughts please...
picture the scene,
there i am enjoying a nice day in the garden painting my fence
my old dear turns up, can you have a look at my car she says, its making a funny noise.
it a ford puma, 1.7i
off i toddle, have a listen and it sounds like its miss firing, check the plugs, leads etc all hunky dory.
look inside the air filter box and its got oil in there, lots of it. seems to be coming from the pipe at the top of the rocker cover and running down into the filter box.
she topped it up yesterday with oil, my first thought was she may have over filled it and the engines blown the oil out ??
whats the thoughts peps ? just trying to look from a different angle ?
cheers folks

The pipe is the oil breather, some oil will come out of their. Did you check the dipstick see if it was over filled?
-
nice one, had my thoughts thats what that was
yeah, checked the dip stick. doesn't seem to indicate being overfilied.
just looked at the drive and its leaked oil all over my drive, seems to have come via the air filter box ????? so its obviously throwing oil out that way

Check all the breathers etc
-
Could it be a worn valve stem seal?

IIRC Puma engines are based on Fiesta one so should be very good.....
