Title: Disco side steps
Post by: rich3000 on March 23, 2005, 13:55:29
Trying to take the side steps of my disco and some of the bolts on both sides just spin in the step and do not undo. Any one got any tips on how to get the bolts out?
Any help would be great!

Rich

Had a nightmare with mine so just cut them off   . Ok if you are not putting new ones on. the idea was to make them removable so i could take them off when going off road. never did put them back on.

Chopped mine off two weeks after buying mine and never looked back,
it still makes me smile watching the mother-in-law struggle to climb in

Me too, took mine off and I think it raises the profile of the lift I got done. Now have rocksliders on. Mother-in-law also struggles, thank god for that hand rail on the front

I'm waiting for my Discoparts rock sliders to arrive, i've ordered the ones with the tree bars like hightower and scorpio have got. Hopefully my little mrs can use the tree bar as a step instead. It's all in the planning you know ;-)

Ok looks like i'll have to cut them off. How's the best way to go about it?  :?: (considering i'm a bit of a novice at all this! )

Which ones is it that are spinning?  Some of them mount onto the body mounting bolt so you have to put a spanner on top of this to undo the whole thing (put the bolt back on when you're done).

on mine, the fornt ones which are the bolts with nuts on the back which go through the chassis came off just fine, the rear ones though with nasty crappy alan key heads didn't want to cooperate, so half of them got ground off, I have no intention of replacing the steps though so its OK!!

Hi All

After the +2" lift and the 235/85's I have to carry a caravan step in the back for the mother in law to get in and out of the car . :D

She is quite short and has bionic knees and hips
