Title: help me with my wolf brakes

i'm trying to change the front disc's on my 300tdi XD (wolf). The problem is i cannot get the 'driving member' on the off side due to the dust cap having had a hole in it for some time and the hole lot corroding together.  I have tried a combination of 3 legged puller, heat and cold chisel with club hammer and have managed, with said tecniques got the near side one off but the other side just will not budge any ideas greatly received cause i'm at a loss.  [-o< [-o<

Any one know what size the hub nut is under the driving member cause i need to purchase one of them too.

hi mate

had the same problem when i did the front wheel bearing on my td5 ,I had to cut the flange off,start just above the splines of the c.v joint(half-shaft) and cut across the flange NOT DOWN the flange,so you are cutting into the hub just be careful at the edges near the hub!,If you prefer you can cut the flange off all around the centre boss (splined bit) to give you more room then work on the centre boss just grind it down as close to the splines as possible then support the under side of the centre boss with axle stand,blocks of wood etc and split the boss from above with a cold chisel, hopefully you should be able to clean up the splines on the c.v joint,if not new joint required but once the hub is off not hard to get to and not very expensive! the hub nut should be a 52mm and if same as td5 there's just one nut with integral lock tab


hope this helps its a bit difficult to write it down clearly with out going on and on

sorry mate didn't get back on to the computer yesterday 

I used a 4.5 inch angle grinder with a cutting disc!

You could also chain drill it then split it with a cold chisel.  Also you can hit the end of the CV with a copper mallet as it has space to move back inside the steering swivel if it will budge at all, better than using a puller perhaps?
