Title: Hi Folks
Post by: tankgirl on June 08, 2009, 19:16:48
Someone admired my Landie and suggested I join as you guys & girls are a great source for info
So I'm hoping for some advice, I drive a 1986 Land Rover 110 Military spec 2.4NAD she is a great girl but I'm having a few probs with oil leaking through a nut on the rocker cover (which has been replaced) and I'm slightly worried about the emissions.  My garage is not expert enough in dealing with a classic so I'm also on the lookout for a garage in the Greater Manchester area who may have more experience.
Any help would be much appreciated as I dearly love my tank!
Cheers

hello and welcome :D

i forget what the stuffs called but i cleans engines out brilliantly. can get it in halfords for about £10 and it blows out all the crap when you mix it with your diesel. that would be a good place to start for emissions.

not redex......if your going to use anything like that it should be "millers"

its called something like tk40 boost......or something boost.......i assume the numbers/letters at the front are just to make it sound cool or technical.

but i cant remember off the top of my head.....ill call the man who will know if anyone wants to know.

Thanks for all your welcomes and replies.  I have tried redex but I'll look at the other one and a few oil additives which I think has helped I was thinking of trying an engine flush next as the oil has not been changed for years (whatever hasn't leaked out!) will try the ptfe as well good idea.
 ;)

A good service and set of filters is the best way to start then injector cleaner etc . then find out were the local landrover club meets  and ask there where the best place to take it for the mot is. (they tend to have friendly testers in the club ;) )

oil leak ....You can buy semi setting gap filling thread lock that will fill any small gaps in the tread and stop it falling out..

Hello and welcome to the club  :afro:
