Title: Relays
Post by: R2D2 on June 10, 2009, 15:31:54
Hi Folks, guess who jumper-wired the wrong relay then?

Just need to know if/how I remove the spades from inside the relay socket please?    Seems to have only cooked the earth wires from one connection  (pin 30 or 86) not sure which.

promise to put me glasses on this time

Cheers

pin 30 is the heavy live feed that is switched on using the relay (30 amp??)
86 is either live or earth for the switch (5 amp)
if you use a multi meter you should be able to check which is live and earth

All I can advise is plyers, if there isn't enough for you to reach then some major surgery is required.  It is possible to dismantle the fuse holder but it's very fiddly and they aren't designed to be stripped down.

when you place the wires into a relay plug they lock into position with a little clip on the back of the spade terminal to remove the spade terminal you need a fine screwdrive
slide it down the plug between the terminal and the plug and just bend the plug out of shape slightly
hope this helps i have done this a few times its easy with a bit of practice
