Title: My Disco whines/whirrs like an electric milkfloat - Oh joy - Not!
Post by: auf_wiedersehen_pet on June 15, 2009, 21:01:51: It's developed the noise in the past few days - sounds like it's at the front of the engine bay.

It rises and falls with revs whether travelling or stationary, in gear or neutral.

Any ideas of where to start?

Thanks. Tried it and it made no difference - my money is now on the water pump.

I tried using the "screwdriver stethoscope technique" on the water pump - what a racket!

It has. I've got a water pump on order so I'll try that first.
