It has been closed, see my last post on the thread in the bar.

I hope that they were either on private land with permission or behaving properly if they were on public rights of way! The Police here ARE now handing out S.59s to those they see driving illegally.

We locals are fed up with people treating our lanes as a playground and getting them closed!

They went to a pay and play near to Builth Wells. It's advertised in LRM and a bit pricy at £40 a day.(I will post name when i remember it).

It's a shame that everyone going into that area is getting tarred with the same brush.

Don't forget the Herefordshire border (Hay on wye)  is only twenty minutes or less to Buith Wells and not much further to Rhyader/Llandovery/ Strata Florida/Kington/knighton/Long Mynd so it could be said that we are locals and we always drive within the law.

Cheers Mark

My response was chiefly due to the exclamation marks and the way in which it was phrased. To me, "Builth Wells area" would mean lanes around Builth.

I fully accept that most people don't come here to damage the scenery, however we need to get the word out to those few who do that their antics will not be tolerated. If the message gets out that you shouldn't mess around in Wales because you will be spotted then we might just get to keep our lanes for a bit longer.

As someone who by profession has to do a lot of 'fence sitting' and has the ability to give s59 warnings, I would give the following advice.
Use the lanes and countryside wisely. Stick to the GLASS rules. I don't want to see anyone getting their car 'cubed' needlessly, for being caught in the proverbial fallout from the actions of the idiot few. If you know how the idiot few are, then tell the local plod. Say that you are someone who plays by the rules, and you are fed up with the morons spoling your pastime. Its not the case of being a grass, snitch, telltale or whatever you may call it. The morons will cause the access rights to be lost for all of us. They break the law now, so it won't bother them if we can't they'll just carry on.
Experience tells me that those who flout the rules, genearlly do so in other aspects as well.

Speak to your local Plod. You never know, you may get one who shares your views.

The current Court case against the owners of Tom's Farm was transferred from Llandrindod Wells Court to Merthyr recently. The date of the next hearing is early this month.
Currently you can still go there, but only to "picnic", as authorised by Powys CC, but I understand that it is still being used contrary to Council instructions.

Tuff Terrains are/were a Training Company who used to use land by the quarry opposite Builth, by the Showground. I certainly didn't know they were running "pay & play" days. It sounds very unlike them.

Tuff Terrains is run by Bernie and is NW of Builth Wells. He did/does rent it to certain owners clubs but was selective

A really good site...

Known bernie for some years now, And yes he is selective on who he lets drive there, ( rightly so i say ) It is  a fandabbydosie place with something for all, We are even holding a winch comp there end of july,  We are the only club allowed to hire the site for comp usage and limited on numbers of vehicles,    Runs a tight ship and the site shows a lot of work/upkeep also  :)

Don't think Bernies ever done pay & play days there. And as others have said, very selective about the groups he does let in! Is a fantastic place!

I believe he was involved with the training/team selection for the uk entries back in the days!

A further Prohibition Order has been issued against the premises and Powys Environmental Health are monitiring it regularly. Further complaints have been raised by neighbouring Land Owners.
