I have this problem that just started due to no reason, I dont have main headlights, they come on very dim with the sidelights when the engine is started but they are not bright at all, also I dont have main beam, that you can leave on!!! I have the flashers working no problems but no main beam, we have checked all switches relays and found no faults. Does the ignition barrel have a wire on it that feeds the light system when the key is engaged, if so what colour is it? I would like to wire it on main live as I know I could well have a problem with the ignition barrel on the car. Also when you switch the motor off the lights come on ok for a split second.
Any help with this problem so I can sort it out please thank you all in advance.
Here is a vid of what the lights do!!!! ;)

Sounds like the dim/dip relay has failed.

Tried a new relay still the same problem, well it was a second hand one but was working on the other motor!!!! Any other ideas??? How does the relay earth out is it with the 2 screws holding it in place???

Mine is screwed to the dash panel behind the instruments. As you say, there are just 2 screws. I suspect any earthing it dealt with in the wiring harness.

Tried I new relay and still nothing!!!!! im really stuck now. :(

Try replacing the headlight switch, as these are prone to failure on Discovery models.

Ok still no headlights and have checked nearly everything app there is a transformer somewhere that is meant to connect to the sensitive relay. Does anyone know where this is located as I have tried everything else and still dont have any headlights!!!! :-k
