Post by: ben-dent on July 04, 2009, 22:21:48
My mums disco has developed an intermittent fault, it brings the engine check light on when driving along,

only happens when engine is warm and done a long run, and when sat at about 2k RPM around 30 MPH and 55 MPH

the engine dosnt fail, Misfire or or anything out of the ordinary, all the levels are ok and i cant find any chaffed wires?

Please help, i dont want it to break down on her

its a 300 TDi, with electric pump and an electric sensor on the 4th injector

Thanks in advance

With no other clues at all, you are going to have find a way to read out the fault code(s) to see what it is complaining about.

You'll have to work out which engine it has too.

You can buy a fault code reader from ebay for about £25. Just find out which protocol the car uses first, as there are OBD and OBD II that I know of and possibly others.

The readers are really easy to use, just plug it in and follow the instructions. You'll save a few quid over having a garage reset it.

i will stick it on the diagnostics kit at work, and see what fault it brings up

does it have a 16 pin dignostic plug, or another type of plug
