Title: Defender rear door hinges
Post by: richo on July 27, 2009, 21:36:35
My rear door on the defender seems to have alot of play in it on the mid and lower hinges.
Can i just replace the hinge pins or would it be best to change the whole hinge for new ones.
Has anybody got a part number .
many thanks Richo

Change just the pins, on the later ones (that you may be supplied) they a fused one peice hinge that you can not change the pins on. Also if you go for complete hinges you will have to paint them.

There is a brass ball in there that wears. The pin kits tend to come with these. As long as the mating surfaces of the hinge sections are OK, rebuilding works fine.

I fitted them to mine last month, they helped but not as good as new hinges.
