As they say you never know who's reading.

Dazza

I really think the time has come for a major rebalancing of privacy, worldwide.
Employers looking through people's social networking accounts are stalking them. Simple as that. Any decisions based on information they gain in this way should be grounds for legal proceedings.
It is none of your employer's business what you do off duty, so long as you don't do anything illegal.

Yes but like a prat she had her boss as a friend on FB, so he didn't even have to look for the comment, it was delivered straight to his FB page.
We have a huge group on FB that can only be joined by invite and proof of where you work (Siggies Group, Network Rail) and there are loads of comments about work on there, many of them not "positive". Have never heard a negative comment from our bosses.
(Oh yes, and they can check our internet activities whilst we are at work)

She technically invited him to read it by adding him... rather funny I thought and just another reason I dont do social networking sites, the pubs good enough for me
-
That is why I don't get involved in sites like that, especially as the Plod Discipline Dept regularly trawl them! That is why some of my posts have been 'self edited' in the past. 8-[

Social networking site like me me me space and facebook etc are a bit of a PITA for some, it's becoming far too easy for some pople to cask allegations against others without thinking about what they are really saying, that can cause a lot pf problems for the subject of such rantings.
Complaining about your boss to your mates in the pub is one thing, posting on cyberpsace that your boss is a pervert is far more serious.

I'd agree with that. The number of complaints we get of harrasement, etc etc made over these sites is astonishing. A real waste of valuable Plod time. I suggested once that to solve the problem, we go round to both parties houses, and beat the crap out of their computers.
Giving technology to some of these drongs is like giving a monkey a machine gun. It might seem like an amusing idea at the time, but the long term effects are dangerous.

We have people publishing other sensitive information about military establishments in unfriendly areas.
Pretty much some people write first, think it looks cool and only think later when there world crashes in around them.
-
oops,
-
The amount of information people are willing to randomly publish to a public forum is truly scary..
Although facebook do claim ownership of just about everything you post (at least in terms of copyright) so theoretically it should have been sacked rather than her.
However, the attitude and general intelligence displayed implies to me at least that she's hardly a loss to the work force. :)

I sacked three people who were messing about at work. They weren't seen at work but posted a video of themselves on facebook.
-
I am on Facebook but I'm very wary with it. I have only one photo posted and will not add any more because I want to keep ownership of my photos. I only accept friendship requests from people I know - several have contacted me because of the flyball connection and I ignore these if I don't know them. I was about to have a bitch about ... someone I know (not RRB or HWTHSBO, I hasten to add!) then thought better of it because ... someone fairly close to this person is one of my Facebook friends. Facebook can be useful for contacting friends when I've not got their e-mail addresses or, in one case, where my friend has got a new mobile recently and I didn't have the number, and her dog had chewed through the cable on the land line!

The American constitution gives them the right to bare arms, they should have amended it to the right to arm bears, it would have been far more interesting to watch

haha yea a bear with a chainsaw now thats a killing machine.

It is amazing what rubbish people put on face book, bebo, etc
its horrifific what people put about themselves and their private lives, and their work situations,
employers must have a whale of a time dismissing people, who waste and misuse time [-X
