Title: Auto gear change problems
Post by: BigA on September 01, 2009, 17:41:07
After spending Monday sorting and finding problems after the birthday bash, thought i had got them all, cleaning, and jetwashing the engine bay, but when i went to work this morning the old girls wouldnt change gear  :'(

Its a 1995 300TDI auto. after pulling over and changing up and down the gears, park to first etc. all seemed to be back to normal. After being parked up for about an hour i had to go out again and still OK.

When i cam to come home this evening, same issue, and again i pulled over and went up and down the gears and all OK again.

I have just checked the gear oil, colour looks ok, and the level (as best as you can check the level) seems to be OK too.

Andy ideas please?

Andy

Could be a problem with the selector switch under the gear stick. On mine it puts it into 'safe mode' and stays in 2nd or 3rd. You may have knocked it whilst jetwashing etc or it may be co incidence, but worth a check.

Its worth a look, seems to be OK now, but i will check anyway. If anything it seems to be changing gear better now, higher revs when foot down, and smoother otherwise.  :?
