Title: TD5 cooling / Heating
Post by: fesuvious on September 11, 2009, 08:34:36
Righty, anyone got any ideas?

My TD5 wasn't warming up. I did put another post about this, anyway;

Last night removed the fan. Today on way to work the guage sat at 1/4 for first 3 miles then went up to halfway in one go (pretty much).

Im figuring the fan was overcooling as previously she wouldn't warm up, the guage barely moved.

Now! I thought that the reason my heater blowed cool was because she didn't warm up. However this morn the blowers were still only tepid.

As I type this I am wondering if an air lock could be the cause but are there any common issues relating to the TD5 etc?

Also, anyone know best place to get a thermostat for a TD5? Unipart supplied me yesterday (despite having the reg) with a normal type thermostat and I saw last night its some sort of funky big plastic unit.

Thanks

First thing I would check is the water level.  Mine started to do as you describe and the cause was loss of coolant which turned out to be a head gasket.

Hopefully your problem will just be an air lock.

I would get a thermostat from LR given the choice.
