i have been informed that you can weld certain cogs in the diff to act as lockers has some one tried this, and does it work
-
I know it's a common mod to do on suzuki sj's.
Makes them hard to turn though ...... not ideal for road use
-
its known as a lincoln locker
not a good idea as you will brake shafts everey time you go out(unless you upgrade them) and it wont turn corners. i welded the rear diff in my friends girlfriends drift car.

not recommended then on my disco, got 40 miles before playing in mud one way

Nota good idea, because you will probably end up snapping a shaft or twisting the splines driving it on the road with the diff locked / welded.

Some friends were planning on welding their rear diffs and removing a half shaft for use on the road, but manual locker is a more practical solution. Having a permenantly locked diff can bes as much of a problem off road as it can be off road.
