Title: Clutch problem any idea's
Post by: stevepage3 on September 25, 2009, 07:10:57
Hi

Recently changed my clutch and discovered that the spigot bearing had disintegrated. replaced with a new one, installed a complete new clutch kit and spent ages putting it all back together.

Problem.

When the engine is not running I can get the car into gear start the engine, with the clutch in.

When I start it in neutral and try and put it into gear it is hard to get into gear, the clutch itself seems to be working ok, someone suggested that it might be
that the new spigot bearing is a tight fit and is causing the lay shaft to spin when the clutch is engaged.

anyone have any thoughts or remedies, I really dont want to have to take it all out again.

Thanks

Steve

I have also place a same sort of question on this forum so i would be interested to know how you get on, my clutch went on me, so i replaced the clutch and new thrust bearing, could not bleed clutch so i replaced slave cylinder twice and the master cylinder, then i had drive for minutes then the pedal went hard, took box back out to find the fork knackered. put back together it all worked fine until i put props back on & lowered to ground, now have same problem as you, will not go into gear with engine running but will with engine switched off. i can then go into gear holding clutch down & start engine then works but cannot change gear. if i get any help i will let you know hopefully it is same fault!!!!

Did you grease the spigot?

did you clean and grease the splines into the clutch plate?
you might also want to check/adjust the clutch pedal
