Well as the title says I'm looking to buy a V8 rangerover, what sort of MPG can I expect from an auto 3.9??
Thanks Brett

If your asking.....walk away ;-)
Between 10 and 15 depending on age - none are new now, and the fuel systems are not great in comparison to todays V8's.

I got about 9 out of mine around town and 18 - 20 on a run......................weight of right foot is critical

Mine is mildly tuned and Ive just got 8mpg Im hoping to get that up to 11/12 with a bit of further fettling

Best look for a diesel then lol, Thanks for your help ;)

no, get the v8, turn the radio off and press the load pedal, everything else goes away :)

My LSe can do 12.8 mpg. Poor economy is a symptom of worn camshaft and/or timing chain amongst other things.
I hear of classic doing nealry 20mpg, but don't bank on it. On a bad day I can make mine do single figures even now.

i definatly agree you cant beat the noise of that loud pedal.. go on go for it you will only regret a diesel :)

I no one will believe me but I am pushing 19MPG at the moment.......... How? Running on 5-40w fully synthetic oil with slick 50 in it, and ruining on Shell Power with the tyres running on 50psi front 60psi back (BFG AT) and every thing well grease and oiled with good quality lube...... and a very light right foot. The shell power is an ongoing test i.e. can you recoup the extra 10p per litre? Don't think so, but it may work out comparable to running on standard fuel, as shell power is a higher octane you don't need quite as much pedal power to get up to speed + you have the advantage of keeping the injectors clean.
Nice thing with power is if you get boared of 19MPG it feels good good to floor it to get back to single figures!!
At the end of the day I think it costs about £400 extra per year to run my v8 compeared to a 40mpg car....... I can live with that  we all spend our money in diffrent ways..... I burn Fuel
