Hello,
I picked up one of those nice wraparound diff defenders at sodbury nice and cheaply but it didn't come with bolts. It mounts to the two holes that are near to where the axle connects (Rear diff - not sure if front is the same).. Does anyone happen to know what size they are as I'm pretty sure they aren't metric.
Would it be a problem to tap them out to the next biggest metric size? Are they meant for anything in particular?
TIA

it should be metric

The front and rear are the same diff so the holes should be there, the diff guards are different, if it's the QT ones then the rear has a rockslider to protect the propshaft UJ and the front covers the track rod and prevents it being pulled back if it catches. Mine came with the bolts and I didn't pay attention to the size but I'm not sure they were metric (but then it's late). Look on the QT website for fitting instructions as I seem to recall it tells you the bolt sizes in the instructions that came with them.

They are not metric they are 3/8 something, BSF? UNC? Not entirely sure. It's a bit too close to M10 to tap out. It wont leave you with much meat. I've got a tap for those I'll have a butchers and see what size it is.
I'll be back......

Will it drill through and but a nut and bolt in its place

Firstly I'm 99% sure it is imperial. The are not QT but QT copies, pretty much exactly the same minus the bolts - hence why I got them for 1/3 of the QT price.
I believe it is something or other imperial with a fine thread - which I don't have guages for!
thanks for the QT heads up I'll have a look on their website :-)
It can't be drilled out Kev because you would end up going through I imagine the drive shaft input bearings!

I'm pretty sure its imperial too, but don't know exactly what. The holes are there for the steering damper to mount to on the front and seeing as the diff is the same this is why they can also be found at the back.

aha that makes sense then! At least I can take a bolt out of the front and take it to a nut and bolt place that way :-)

They are 100% certainly imperial, and I can't find the bloomin tap now! So, sorry not sure on the size, 3/8 something, I'm sure.
