My 300 tdi is stuck in diff lock.
I moved the stick to fit a speaker for my hands free phone kit and it wont release.
I've try'd reversing it, dropped it of kerbs and all the other things that i've been told work but with no joy :(
Some one told me the linkage could be bent??
Anyone got any ideas?
I have removed the front prop shaft for the moment so i can still drive it for the moment.
HELP!!!!!!!!

Have you checked the linkage from the stick to the transfer box, and that the lock warning lignt switch is not faulty?

After disengaging diff lock on my Disco the light stays on until I have gone over a few bumps!!!

Not yet. I'm of off work this week so i'll have a look.
Its definatly in diff lock so it cant be the light playing up.
I try'd to let it release on its own but it wont. (drove it for a couple of miles)

Do you feel a notched resitance on the transfer lever when it moves from lock to unlock, or does it feel very looose moving across ?

How can you donfirm it is in diff lock? I know it might sound a strange question but mine goes in so quietly and without any notice except for the light.
I know it works cos it will go places with it in that it struggles without it....

I got the same with my one ten bud.Its allways been a smooth movement so thats not the issue.But me light wont go out and im going 30 mph tops,an crawling over everything :?

You can feel the difference between the two. In diff lock the gear change is more clunky (technical term!!) and it feels like its stuck to the road more and tends to follow road shapes more. Also it does'nt like tight turns (like reversing)

Thats how i know its stuck in!!!!
The stick is in the normal driving postion.
