Title: snaking with no trailer
Post by: kizz81 on October 27, 2009, 01:26:03
hello,
i am expiriancing a strange thing,
i have just towed a range rover 400 miles on a trailer from france and then from leicester to wales, and since then the landy is snaking like it has a trailer attached when i get above 50 mph ... i know its rare... its no a violent thing yet but gradually getting worse, the rear axle has super pro poly bushes fitted and trailing arms are tight, it feels as if its coming from the rear end, how can this be? the only thing that i can think is the steering box, at christmas i bent the track rod and stupidly drove with it like that for a while because i had so much more to fix i got used to it and forgot, since then the steering has felt more loose
ill be able to get a range rover steering box soon, with this fit?
any advice welcome
many thanks kieran

I've had a similar thing with my 90 after offroading, and found the trailing arm polybush to chassis had popped over the flange on the arm on the nearside, I poked it back on with a heffty screwdriver, probably a different problem to yours...have you checked the A- frame balljoint?

would that ball joint create that sort of problem?

Hi Kizz.  RRC box will fit but probably be PAS, you need to fit the pump and pipes as without them it will be a cow to steer.
