Title: SRS Light on
Post by: BigA on October 27, 2009, 18:42:03
OK, fixed one of my many current issues, and now onto another.

couple of weeks ago my SRS light started not to go out after the initial check on startup. It then started flashing after a few minutes driving. Whilst trying to get to the bottom of my recent power drain, i had as much of the air bag system i could get at disconnected, cleaned all connections and re connected.

The good old haynes manual is as helpful as expected and states i should "take to a dealer for inspection" so can any you you helpful chaps shed any light as to how to or what to check.

Thanks as always in advance.   [-o<

I've been having the odd prob with my SRS light coming on :( I've worked out it's either the steering wheel or the passenger air bag that has an iffy conection because when I turn off the ignition & give either of them a slight thump (I know you shouldn't do it) the next time I start the motor up the SRS light don't come on again :D Have a feeling that it's mainly the steering wheel which is causing the odd prob

Becarefull the bags don't go off :lol:I think the main prob is the rotating conection behind the steering wheel :roll:TBH i'm going to look into having the SRS system switched off & replacing the steering wheel as I just hate air bags

my 99 td5 turned out to be the seatbelt pre tensioner connections under the seat, very thin wires, one was broken.  Re soldered and the light went off!
Worth a look.

Dont think mine is as high tech as that, only thing under my seats is muddy carpet and rust

So far checked as many connections as possible but no joy yet. Gonna get the center of dash out at weekend for another job, so will take a peek whilst in there.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this one?

My own SRS light has started to come on and it annoys me

I'd rather not just remove the bulb  ;)

Aren't they supposed to come on when your air bags get to 10 years old?

Didnt ever solve it, its still on, and still annoying. Went through MOT OK last month though.

As Range Rover Blues mentions, i dont think they are expected to work after 10 years, dont know if they come on anyway?
