Title: Accelerater pedal query
Post by: JimP on October 28, 2009, 09:17:20
Picked up a 300di Disco last night, overall very happy with it, but will soon be busy with the old welder!!

One thing I have noticed is that you seem to have to put the acceperater pedal down a lot before anything happens, it seems the first part of travel does nothing, then you get the power on, any ideas? dont seem to remember that happening on my onld 300tdi, but it was while ago!

Worn cable or linkage or something??

Cheers

Jim

Hi Jim,

Most likely it's just a badly adjusted throttle cable - easy enough to put right :-)

what year is it mate, its just that some of the later ones, quite late infact, had electronic throttle, obviously you'd know by looking at the pump, but weren't sure weather you knew what you were looking at,no offence, lol, dont know your mechanical knowlege, they do play up,or it could be the electronic govenor on the  pump,or like the man says, could just be a slack cable if its below certain year :-k

It's a 95 300tdi, not really had a look under the bonnet yet, doing that the weekend, just wanted to get an idea of what to look for before I start.

Am hoping it's a slack cable!!  8-[
