As the title says really, I can't reply on the for sale threads not even on a post I put in there?? Is there a reason for this? :-k
Thanks Brett

I have often wonderd this also. would it not be usefull to see previos questions or coments about the item in question. would save time on both partys

It's all explained in the sticky post in the for sale section, as usual a few have spoiled it for the many.

Because once upon a time a long time ago, someone replied saying it was too expensive and the mods at the time got on their high horse and prevented people replying. this then caused much outrage, but however they kept it the way it was, and ever since it has been like this.
i know its not right, but hey, if someone upsets the boss they shut it off, they wont ask you if you want it back the way it was

I can't see a problem, just means you send the seller a pm instead?

It wasnt just one post, it was happening all the time.
People were just replying telling them that the item for sale wasnt worth the asking price and putting people off buying.
The threads then descended into arguments and as such its the way it is now. Yes its an inconvenience, but hey ho, thats the way it is!

Rob aka Tdi90,
You know very well why the for sale section was closed to replies.
Please stop bitching about the way the site is run, if you don't like the way we do it then go to your own site, we are not forcing you to be here.
-
im not bitching.
im saying how it is. more people would like it to be so that you can reply? surely that is an incentive to allow people to reply?
-
You can reply by PM, it saves arguments.

Well I currently have a for sale thread selling a P38 I have or will sell parts off it. Someone has managed to send a reply to me yet I can't answer that reply/question without sending a pm???
Guess I just say calls only then. Thanks
-
[!Expletive Deleted!] just realised I can't even add to the thread an tell people to call me
-
Brett
I'm guessing the reply was added when the original post was made in the wrong section hence the 'sorry if it's in the wrong place' comment?
If someone is interested they will pm you, you pm them back.
If the sale goes through you hit the 'edit' button and add sold to the title.
If you want to change the description you hit the 'edit' button and change it.
It's been like that for some time now and seems to have been working ok (give or take a few occasional snipes).

I like the closed thread style of this forums for sale section. Keeps the sales relatively private affairs between seller and prospective buyer (and the mods who can read pm's :police:). Wouldn't like it to change.
-
and the mods who can read pm's
Not on this forum.

Hey guys - the side is free, the for sale section is free.
If the mods want to set a rule that seems fine by me.

And your a poet that didnt know it!
It is a shame though when I send a pm to people about an item they never reply. :'(

That was not deliberate actually - so I guess I didn't know it.
I do agree that its downright rude to just ignore PM'd replies; if its sold then say so instead of ignoring people. - better still edit the post and tell people its sold.
That is good manners but again if people don't have them its hardly the fault of the mods is it?
