Post by: TDi90 on November 16, 2009, 18:07:10

im thinking yes because i have a cowling over the only moving part (fan)
considering al those custom cars have most of the engine showing!

No expert but I think in UK any moving part has to be covered - IE that includes belts and pulleys.

Drove round for 3 months with no bonnet on my series IIA after an engine rebuild (easier to keep an eye on whats happening!) Even went through an MOT like that and had a traffic cop pull me to talk about the series cos he was thinking of buying one!! No issues.

Sharp protruding edges.

I'd say it's illegal.

Do you really want to be doing it?  If you hit anything they could end up in the engine bay, and that would be messy.

Hell if it's a landy, they'd probably end up straight through the bulk head too.
