I'm looking to fit a winch bumper on the front of my X Reg TD5 Disco 2 after it had a front end smash.
But Ive just seen some thing in a write up about it having to be compatible with the air bag sensors :-k
Now I've always had Defenders and obviously this has never been an issue. Can anyone tell me if there's any issues that I need to consider
before I rush out and buy one of these bumpers.
one other thing is the SRS light is showing on the dash had this on a Freelander a while back. A common fault. Is it the same issue on these Disco's?

I get the SRS light coming on now & again & just hit the steering wheel & dash air bag once the ignition has been turn off for a bit :lol:TBH I think it's the coupling behind the steering wheel as mine no seems to click a bit when turning the wheel

That makes interesting reading but seems to be more about late model 300 TDIs. :-k
I'm going to have a look at mine in daylight tommorrow to see if I can see any sensors.

i looked into this when i brought a second hand bumper, just to check difference between airbag and non airbag bumpers.
Basically the ones for models with airbags have a crumple zone built into the mounting to enable the sensors to activate. I fitted non airbag to mine, but it is a 95 300, and who knows if they work on it anyway, and since buying the srs light is on anyway.

I fitted a Devon 4x4 winch bumper to my W reg Discovery TD5 and there were no wires or sensors in the bumper.
You will need to trim the plastic grill that covers the radiator but otherwise it is relatively straightforward. Had to make some adjustments to the bumper but they were relatively minor

Ok thanks guys. Looks like my sensors are under dash so no problems fitting any bumper I like.

the ARB one. very good, and has had some harsh impacts on it. no dents its not bent and it normally makes people a little more aware in carparks

On the D2 the airbag sensors are in the middle of the car and work on sudden movement rather than a crumple zone area.
Your airbags will work just fine with a HD bumper
