went out today done a few lanes with me mate . . well all was going well until a knocking noise came from the front everytime i went over a bump . . it seems some how the shock has come out the holder as the springs have gone very spoungy . . so im hoping that noise is just the shocks knockin up and down on the axle . . .
then on my way home there was a rather loud klunk form the back and it was as though it was cathcing on something and then releasing itself but is only under drive . . . at 1st it was ok only did it a lil then i pressed the clutch down and it would stop for a bit . . then it wouldnt stop so had to pull over . . rang simon and he told me to try it in diff lock see if it drive . . . well managed to get it home driving in high range diff lock . . but i cant figure out wat the problem . :'(
ANY HELP PLEASE GUYS AND GIRLS
-
Your a bit vague on the prob there dude....
You told me that while driving the drive was on and off along with a clunking noise yeah???
But managed to drive while locked?
-
yea thats wat i wrote . . .
-
Sound like rear diff Donald Ducked
-
replaced that a couple of weeks . . but was a used unit but was working fine and everything . . .
-
Yeah not sure what that diff was like as it came off that white one .....
-
Could well be a shaft in the axle, remove the drive flanges and pull the shafts out to see if they are complete, easier than starting by hauling the diff out!
-
yea suppose that would be easier . . will try that tomorrow see wat happens
-
moved the truck onto the drive this morning another bang from the back then more grinding etc and oil leaking from the bottom of the diff . . so its all gettin ripped out today and see whats gone wrong ?? :-k
-
well took the diff guard off and oil came pouring out . . . . well there is a little hole smashed out the bottom of the axle where the diff guard bolts over . . . so gota change the axle now . . . . just wondering . . .
is the diff the same front and rear becuase i got a spare front diff in the garage . . was just wondering if the transfer box does the directional gearing or if the diff does it . . . .
:-k
-
diffs are the same be they front or rear, you can stick either into either axle and you will still go forwards
-
cool cheers dude thats a easier cheaper option hopefully shall get that all fixed tommorow [-o<

If you do need a complete axle (including casing) there's one on ebay for £100 and £60 post at the moment. I know as I was looking at half shafts again with a view to assembling a spare set.
-
£100??
ouch i couldn't even sell mine a little while ago for £30......
was a good job as mike now has had both of them
-
yea was looking at those on flea bay was looking at minimal spending . . . i cant believe a bare axle is going for £60
and yea was well lucky i had the spare axles cheers si lol . . .
-
If you do end up needing an axle , I have a complete spare rear with diff brakes ect £30 in horfield.
-
Yeah, it does look to be a case of someone hoping to find a desperate buyer with that ebay £100 example!
-
Hey andy i might take you up on that if mike don't need it always handy for a spare just in case.
Might need to clear a bit of room for it though i got way too much crapo lying around :)

cheers andy but managed to get the spare axle i had all working and bolted on so hoping that works . . . [-o<
so si its all yours :D
-
all fixed now diff all working fine just hope it lasts now [-o< had a lil trouble with reconnecting the brakes but local car parts shop helped me all the bits needed and brakes work now lol . . . just gota wait for me 4" pro comp shocks to come down so i can fit them and fix the knocking noise on the front as last off roading session it ripped both the nuts off the front shocks and there now fudged . . (was just an excuse to get better suspension really . . . only dilema i got now is wat colour do i paint my springs hmmmmmmmm :-k
