Right guys I could do with some helphere.
I have owned for the last 18 months a 110 County 300TDi defender. It has loads of add on bits bolted to it and I love it to bits been on a few adventures with it
in Wales took it to Cornwall this year.
But I have just bought an accident damaged X reg TD5 Discovery 2 that I have repaired and put a winch bumper on the front and a set of BFG muds on it.. I bought this to sell it on but my dilemma is this. I can only afford to keep one vehicle which one should it be? The wife really likes the Disco and it's definitely a lot more refined and those long runs to Wales would be far smoother in the Disco but its just not got the character of the Defender.
Which one should I keep? :-k

Hi Chap
Really its all down to your personal preference......
However,
Earlier this year, around April time , I picked up an 'R' plate 3 door 300 tdi Disco to use as a 'runaround' - run me and 'stuff' into work, stuff to the tip, bit of laning etc, so I didn't end up trashing my 90 Tomb Raider.
Last year, the Tomber did around 2000 miles between MoT's - it probably hasn't done 500 this year, while the ol' clunker Disco has done over 4500 since April.
The disco does virtually everthing i ask of it - returns a reasonable mpg, is 'roomier' than the 90, will carry 4 - 5 people in reasonable comfort, which the 90 certainly couldn't do.
Like I said, its your choice, but i'm sticking with the disco - as long as it gets through the Mot on Wednesday!

it would have to be the defender i think mate, you will always be able to get cheap bits for it,easier to work on,not so much electronic rubbish you dont realy need, and in my opinion,if serviced properly, more reliable
-
keep the disco sell me the defender
-
I must confess my hearts with the Defender but I do bout 20000 miles a year in it and the thought og being able to cruise at 80 in the disco is very tempting and I know it will be just as capable off road. But its very shiney. Oh its doing my head in :huh

if the d2 is of the type with the both high/lo and difflock selectors on the transfer box then swap it with the defenders 1:1.4 ratio box and then you'll get a nice quite cruise in the Defender

keep the disco sell me the defender
I was going to say that.

Defender, that will hold its value.
Again change the box if you want better cruising.
Sell the Disco.
But upto you really.

Oooo, get you, Mr Pedantic :P
I'm biased toward the Defender. But we have a Freelander available for longer runs, so I don't have the same choice to make.

No point selling either of them untill the new year so I'm going to run it around for a few weeks and see how I get on. :-k
