You know Boyd Coddingdon has been dead for awhile right?

Was never sure about him, seemed like he's way of management was being bossy for the sake of 'respect my authority' rather than what was best and reasonable. He knew how to build cars though, no doubting that!
Have watched a few of the episodes of various series. That 'bluebear' character, complete jerk surprised no one knocked him out - he gets sacked in end but not before he forces decent guys to leave.

Can see all the different sackings and walkouts on youtube. Loved the grumpy fabricator guy as he reminded me of a few oldgits I have worked with in past - made it my mission to win em over and learn something out of them. Show like that is about the characters more than their creations (like orange county choppers) BUT the hotrod guys did some actual engineering whereas OCC bunch just buy in bits stick together and do some fancy arty fabrication.

I must have seen all of them over the years. Boyd was a very interesting guy, obviously he had a "TV Persona" and the editors choose what to show in the show, but no doubt he was a sod to work for some of the time, but then again he was at the top of his profesion. HE also did a lot of charity etc so I was sad to hear of his death.
Interestingly he had a "feud" with Chip Foose, who was his apprentice, then rival, and seemed to poach a lot of his staff (the painter and machinist) even got his own "rival" TV Show.
I like the show that Chip Foose is in (cant remember its name, they "nick" people cars and do them up) because I prefer that style of car and they tend to go into more detail on the build, not the builders.
PS Boyds Wikipedia entry was very unflattering! (seemed a bit unfair to me)
Boyd Coddington RIP.
PS I think the best show of this ilk is "The great Biker Build off"

You dont get to the top by being nice and fluffy. His work was amazing since he put his heart and sole into it. If they guys working along side didn't meet his (exceptionally high) expectations, then both barrels.
RIP, and may his cars live on.

There is a 110 'hotrod' in one of the monthy l/r mags complete with scoloped paint work and white walled tyres , although I don't think it is quite as modified as a more traditional rod.
