Title: Police spec
Post by: Bobtail on December 07, 2009, 20:18:47
I have fitted police spec springs to my disco

Green stripe fronts and red and white stripe on rears

the front is now 3/4 " higher than the back

and the back feels bouncy and loose

Anyone else fitted these springs and how did you get on

cheers

Jim

Hi Jim,

I fitted just the rears to my Disco and it behaves perfectly, best thing I ever did too.

They made the rear end much better both on and off road and lifted it by about an inch.

I'm looking at a set of the rears for mine, after one of the allegedly heavy duty Britpart ones I fitted six months ago appears to have gone soggy. It now sags on one side and bounces horribly when turning in one direction (loading that spring up). I have looked underneath and can see no evidence of a break or problems with the spring mounts. Swapping them over won't help as I'll still have one side softer than the other. There's no clonk or rattle, it's just saggy on one side.

Does anyone have a link to a supplier for the genuine LR HD/Police spec rear springs?

i had that problem the other way round fitted hc police rears and after a year thay was saging badly so fitter a full set of hd britpart ones and gaz britpart damper  was expecting the worst but year and a half later and still ok i tow quite a bit and blamed that on killing the police springs. maybe i got a good set of britparts as normaly i hate britpart as if breaks or falls off but at the time it was all i could aford.

Red/whites are Police spec on a RRC, not a Dsico.  The RRC had the BOGE self leveller and a lower max rear acxle load (250kg lower IIRC) so they may not be any stronger than the original Disco springs.

Green are normal rating for a Diesel RRC/Disco anyway.
