Title: helper springs/lift kit
Post by: william127 on December 16, 2009, 22:28:24
bit of an odd one but has anyone here fitted internal coil springs inside heavy duty 2 inch lift springs? i think it should work ok as the internals will do nothing until the load on the spring has compressed the extra 2  inches, then theyed work as normal ? its for a 127 truck cab tipper, any ideas, thanks.

You'll need to make up some spacers or a new clamping system as the helpers on my old 130 were held at each end by the cups rather than bolted down like a conventional one.  I just left them off when I put the +2" springs on (HD yellow Britparts) and it was fine with a load in (imagine one of those single cab quadtec bodies brimmed with green Elm - reckon I've had over 2.5 tonne in the back off mine before and it still wasn't on the bumpstops (still needed some flex as most of the time when it was full was off road on the Estate anyway)

thanks, i might try leaving them off then, as i can always refit them- not that its gonna happen any time soon as i need to have the welding done, fit the engine and get new wings :D
