i was driving the other day on the road in 5th gear lost all drive very sudden. drives in diff lock still. i put it on the ramp and drove it, it still drives the rear wheels turns the props and the tras box also the front prop but not the front wheels so i am asuming the front diff is bust any other ideas before i pull the axle off... cheers chris

Mine done the same thing. Check the CV joints
Rob

try taking diff out and have a look at it first rather than change whole axle
-
cv joints is a good call would that cause loss of drive both sides... cheers rob

I'd take the drive members out 1st, 5 minute job!
Undo the 5? bolts round the hub and pull the drive shafts out, see if they still have the splines both ends, that will tell you if its a drive shaft or the diff.
-
yeh i looked at the hub ends there ok... i can turn the front prop with the wheels on the floor is that normal.

No, could be the Diff Pinion?
-
thanks.

did you get a bang when you lost drive as it could be one of your half shafts gone youve goto pull them out to remove the diff any way so lets hope its the cheeper
-
yeh got a little rattle more than anything very sudden... gutted now cos its snowing to..... :( :(
-
I snapped a halfshaft right next to the diff, the short one is usually favourite to go. Don't know how I did it though as I havn't been off road for over a year.
-
i would just jack the front axle up and remove the filler bung look in through the hole and get some1 else to turn the wheels, you can tell which side it is then.
well thats what i done, i was expecting diff but it turned out to be a cv joint
cheers rob
