Title: who has snow??
Post by: bloat on December 30, 2009, 09:54:30: well im in shrewsbury and the weather WARNING seems to have passed us by we havent had any snow yet lol so who got all the snow?? :-k

It depends on how high you go. Under 600ft and it's been more rain than snow, 600' to 1000' half rain half snow with up to 4 inches in places. 1000' to 1500' about 6' to 8' and at 1800' to 2000' it's 10'+. Haven't gone any higher yet.

I live in Brechin, which is by-passed on the way to Aberdeen.

I'm currently staying with my Folks, in Arbroath, just north of Dundee, as my boiler has broken down, and it's been around the -7 degree mark.

None today but what has melted is now refreezing, they say the snow has reflected all the sun's heat and predict down to -10 in some areas tonight.

Worst of all, upper school is open tmorrow so I'm expected to go there even though all my morning lessons are at lower school and cancelled, so a day of sitting on my bum or covering for people who didn't buy a Land Rover :roll:

What's the betting school gets closed again before I get any teaching done 8-[

NOT! currently about -7 and waiting for more snow... the WO said if it does come down badly overnight dont bother coming in...

GOOD !!!

Rock salt will only work down to about -8c.

Post by: muddyjames on January 07, 2010, 09:28:27: just south of Daventry and we have 4.5inches and it was -10 this morning when I drove to work to then get sent home an hour later. The roads werent fu, even the main roads due to it being too cold for the grit to work.

Forecast is for more tonight, and then again on Sunday, so I have just booked a hotel for 3 nights from Sunday. No way am I driving from Mid Wales at 0400 each day!!

The Mondeo seems to be coping really well - it has not missed a beat since the snow started, though luckily when it was really nasty on Tuesday, I was not working that day.

Ex boss got her Micra stuck in the car park this morning and the groundsmen had to dig her out and clear a space for her to park in - that was quite funny.

There was an 8 wheeler grain truck stuck on the hill outside our house this morning. I zipped round the other way so I could get in front of it, but he had taken a massive runn up and just managed to creap over the top!
