Hello M/C'ers.
If I was to trick up a P38 for greenlaning what would I do about the air bag sensors if I took off the front bumper?
If the air bag sensors were disconected how would that effect the MOT & insurance?
How difficult is it to take off the air suspension and fit 2" lift springs?
What tyres (235/85/16 or 255/85/16) would I fit under the arches with a 2" lift?
Just mulling over it at the moment.
Cheers,
Ron.

I green lane and have just done a pay an play day in my P38, All I have done is fit 265/75 16 Goodyear Wrangler MTR and it performs very well. I use the car daily and it still drives very well. I would like to fit winch bumpers to mine but would have to relocate the gearbox cooler as I have a DSE. I do have rocksliders to go an soon an also want to get some diff protection.

[Edited] would you want to do that for?, leave the air springs under and a 2" lift is only the touch of a button away

I've been thinking about getting a plate made up to mount onto the air springs to give me a 2" lift at all times so vehicle will always be 2" higher yet still be adjustable, but will not go as low when parked up.

I've seen pics of a bobtailed p38 somewhere, so it can be done.

Thanks for all the info,
I don't think they do "NEW" P38's any more.
Even the latest models are coming right down now so are well within the price range of people who want to trash them.
I mean, people spend £5-10,000+ on a Defender and use it for what it was built for so just because a P38 is plush does not mean you can't give it a hard life.
I see the air suspension as an accident waiting to happen,
O.K. it does what it says on the tin but the tougher off road conditions will soon find any weakness's
Sooner or later somethings going to give,
with springs you can fit and forget!
where would I get rock sliders, diff guards, steering guards, snorkle etc etc for the P38?
Are rthere aftermarket goodies or is it a case of build your own?
I'll check out rangerovers.net....thanks.
Cheers for now..........
