The thrust bearing seems to be on the way out on my 300tdi, anyone got an idea of a rough cost of getting it fixed? I know it's a gearbox off job, but just want an idea of how much to see if it s actually financially viable!??
Thanks
Jim

you may aswell do the lot while your at it ,clutch and heavy duty release fork, it will be beneficial in the future. personally i found it easier to remove the engine. it took me about 4 hrs to do the whole job. if you do it that way then you can remove the engine mounts and drop the engine down to get the top bellhousing bolt off or else its a really long extention bar. clutch kit is around £70 not sure about the release fork but cant be that much.

Not sure I'm up toe the job myself , was wondering how much a garage would charge tbh!!

the going rate seems to be around 350 to 400. tho its best to ask around and dont ever make the mistake of going to a main dealer thinking that they are best. not when a land rover by me charges £120 p/h labour.

Looks like i better put me prices up....last one i did i only charged £140 + parts :D
know wonder they keep coming back for other work :-k

I had my clutch changed just before Xmas at the local dealer and it cost me £150 labour (I already had all the bits). Didn't think that was too bad?

£150 sounds great to me, i got a quote from a local bloke and he said £350 plus bits thats why i did it myself. not that i'm tight or anything .
