is it possible to lower the ratios of individual gears in an lt77 box? i know that there are different high ratios available in the lt230 but that is for all gears. reason being is two fold, first having a lower first high would be easier when setting off with the big trailer than having to swap between low second and high first in one change; second a lower low first would offer more control on rocky lanes.
so can it be done and if so by how much could it be reduced? cheers in advance.

Can't speak for landrovers, but terra low gear sets can be had for most 4x4's. The provide a lower 'low' ratio. A quick google should give an indication on their availability and the price (not 'that' much for other 4x4s)
What about fitting a 2nd transfer case?

generally the gears are well placed for most jobs butin some cases a crawler first in high range could be more use than a full set below low. will look into the terras cheers.

The TDi already has a lower 1st gear than the V8, I looked into fitting one on Blue for the same reason but I think the box would get trashed by the extra torque.
Good luck with your quest ;)
