Title: The 1p trick
Post by: Frankie-Boy on January 19, 2010, 10:12:28

I read on here a while ago about a 1p coin placed under a pulley or something that stopped belts from squealing, I've been looking for the thread but cant find it, can anyone either point me to the thread I'm looking for or give me any info on where the coin was placed please.

Thanks.

It does work, did on mine anyway  :D a 1p trapped in place at the roughly "10 o clock" position.

Hi Frank, yes it does work, also pays to change the tensioner bearing which can quite easily be replaced for about a fiver

Hi Frank

Yep - worked a treat but I couldn't get the coin to stay in place as the aircon compressor (more bling... ) got in the way of being able to hold it in place as per the photo so I superglued mine to the pulley (working on the basis that it was stuffed anyway...)

As stated it goes at 9 o'clock

All is now blissfully quiet and has remained that way for well over a year...

Hi Folks, Frankie Boy was asking about the 1p trick on my behalf.

I was explaining the concept of this fix to my mechanic friend and he looked at me as if to say "yeah Right" I also need a new headlight bulb, and my mate said, lets try this 1p trick...... and if it works he'd pay for the headlight bulb.

So...... for the princely sum of 1p, i now have a silent car and all my lights work!!!

So another BIG THANKYOU from me,

Sogster.
