Planning on lifting my Discovery ('96) and was wondering if i would need cranked arms etc or just a set of longer brake hoses?! I'd be doing a 2inch lift.
Cheers

2" lift will reduce your castor by 3 degrees, which is nominally the amount you should have so potentialy you could have between plus and minus 1 degree after a lift depending on manufacturing tolerance. Some people think their cars are fine after a lift, some hate driving them. One answer is castor corrected arms, another is castor swivels, a thrid is castor bushes (oftset radius arms bushes, the cheapest option).
Cranked rear arms are a different matter, they theoretically allow more droop by taking the twist out of the chassis bush so that it doesn't bind up with lesser amounts of articulation, after a lift the chassis bush is otherwise quite twisted, on mine the rubber was pulled away from the washer.

ive had a 2inch lift fitted for a year now just the shocks and spring fitted no castor correcter arm or longer brake pipe had no probs and had full pollybush kit fitted as well to make it nice and tight

are the anti roll bars, bushes etc ok or do they need to be removed modded?

as eugen says i also have had a 2in lift for over a year with no major problems as for the anti rollbar question to be safe and secure you can make spacers out of 2in box section as i found it turnd the joints the wrong way up causing problems or as i have remove the rear completly and space the front no prob for the mot as they were type approved with and without them
