My TD5 Auto Disco will reverse, but no forwards movement, is it terminal and time for a new box, or is there something I should be checking first? :-k

Check fluid level, the auto filter and how old the oil is, but chances are it's one of the cluch packs/brake bands that has gone.

i think judging buy the sound of it its good bye gearbox but if you can get it to your local independ landrover people or even the main agent at a last resort and get em to plug it in it might be some form of valve in the gear box the other thing you could do is ring http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/ and ask them what they think  they only work with landrover gearboxs
