Title: I done my website ;-)
Post by: Vam on April 12, 2005, 18:14:40
OK

Have 'more or less' finished my web site for my jewellery

Men, It's Jewellery.

.....  I understand it's about as much fun looking at it, as watching paint dry for you so I apologise in advance

...... but I'd really like your opinion on the site and whether it makes 'sense' or works as a promotion aid.

Bearing in mind that it's a click and build site with limited options

Ladys

Opinions on the same please, and any ideas that would help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

- I actually feel quite nervous now   :(scared):

Hi Helen.

Have just shown SWMBO your website and the feedback I can give you is along the lines of "Wow", "Stunning", "Beautiful" and "Really nice".

I think this could get expensive if it wasn't for some really interesting prices

Good effort.  =D>  =D>  =D>

Well presented and easy to understand.

Agree with Janie - the rubber collection is great.  :D  :D

Thanks Tim

And thanks for the comments, 'Interesting' prices in a good way I hope

I make them all meself, All my own designs.

I like the Rubber ones too
I do try to be 'different' plus I have to stand out from the cheap imports that are around.

Daft but I can actually buy made up (mass produced) tumblechip necklaces  cheaper than I can buy the loose stones...

Thanks

Does look nice, but if i can say one thing that gets to me with menus, I prefer them if they stay still.... the one on the left moves I think because it is part of the page text.

I think if you use frames or cells (cant remember which one) then the menu on the left stays the same whilst the text in the box will move up or down with the mouse.

Only a small point and a pet hate for me

Other than than, looks great, well done  8)

Thanks I see your point, unfortunately it's a really simple click and build site, great for the money and simplicity but not alot of scope to alter things.

BTW Mud club discounts do apply, plus Im at Billing (sorry shameless plug  )

Frames   Arrrggh   kill, kill, kill the frames

No, don't use frames

if they are not frames then cells or something like that anyway  :?

Basically allowing you to keep the menu still and scroll the main text. (you know what I mean!!)

If the scope of the webstuff wont allow it, then the job looks fine as it is, it is just my own personal hate for menus :)

Again, well done

You probably are talking about frames (my pet hate  ). This web site uses tables & cells which means the whole page scrolls up and down.

To make the menu section stay at the top while the content scrolls would require frames.

See!! I thought I was right

I know they are not the easiest things to work with but find them OK using Dreamweaver

Gords.... Robbie

I only have the faintest of ideas as to what you are talking about TBH
Seriously, It's the presentation borders round text  :)

I know what you mean Robbie, I find the movement disorientating too, but out of my crontrol ... Like I said, it's very simple package that even I found easy to use :(stoopid):

Janie Thanks, Ill be putting more pages with more stuff on as and when I get the time (hopfully today)
Thats only about 50% of my stock ATM

Ideally Im hoping to update and put new stuff up once a fortnight
I just need to get organised.......... :(mad):

You can use CSS :-D

See in action here (Where the menu stays still) : http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/

Nice but maybe a little overkill for your needs.

Have Fun,

Ed

It all looks very nice, only comment from me would be that perhaps you would get more business if some form of indicative pricing was included on the site - sites without prices can often have the effect of scaring consumers off as they, often wrongfully, assume that the goods will be priced out of their reach.

More contact details inc a phone number may also help you engage with customers.

Good Point TBH If there are no prices listed on sites I find a site that does list them
I'll make them bigger and update the FLW Page  :)

Oooo.... must get myself some Tiger Tail ear rings

The frames issue previously mentioned relates to search engine listings. Many search engines don't like them. Best avoided if at all possible. I can sympathise with the navigation being visible at all times but not too much of an issue on shorter pages.

The site is clear and easy to get around. Some of the images could do with better lighting maybe. A fine first attempt  :D
