Hi
I have a 1991 Disco 1 with a 3.5 v8 engine. The engine has a crack in the water jacket caused by the cold weather, i am not in a position to buy a new
engine and was thinking of stripping off any bits like winch bumper etc.
And weighing it in. What is it worth ?
Thanks

If you take it in as a compleat motor it is worth £90 a ton but if you take the time to seperate the ali from the steel you will get £90 a ton for the steel but you get £700 per ton of ali ;) but dont get to exited there isnt a ton of ali in a disco but it is well worth spending the time to seperate it if you can
I hope this helps

If the shell is in reasonable order why not get a secondhand engine for it, I've seen V8 engines for sale for around £150 so that might be an option but only if the usual disco body rot hasn't set in.
Good luck.

I,d be interested in a look of the bits ya wanna sell off or price it as a whole? Chris; 07971 651 969 (ayles)

if its a 4 door i would be interested in all 4 doors :)

Your get about £80 for the ali and £180 for the rest of the motor.Your better of just weighin her in or go for another lump.It aint a 5 min job pulling the door skins off and you will have all the mess after.

put it on ebay with alist of whats wrong, and start it £150, you'd be surorised what you get,

i agree with bogie, the ali isnt worth stripping. i would do what mud rat says and stick it on the bay and see what happens
