Title: Play in steering wheel
Post by: BurgerKing on April 13, 2005, 19:43:07
Got some play in my steering wheel and sometimes i get a "clunk" from the front end. Someone has told me it could be the link from the steering box to wheel. It does seem to wonder on the road a little bit...

Any ideas....

Get someone to wiggle the steering wheel back and forth and have a good look underneath for movement in the wrong place... it may be one (or more) of :

Steering Rod Ends
Wheel Bearings
Swivel Pins / Bearings
Steering Box
Steering Column
Suspension Bushes

and probably some others I haven't thought about ;-)

I had a sort of vague feel at speed and a judder when braking turned out to be the track rod end on the drivers side. steering now feels nice and tight again. :D
