Much to my suprise I have been chosen to take part in this event  http://www.h4hrally.co.uk The only problem being that all the others have had since September to raise funds, get there truck into shape etc. :'( I was wondering of any one on the forum would like to sponsor me, I have set up a giving page http://www.justgiving.com/Peter-Cowin (http://www.justgiving.com/Peter-Cowin), donate spares, buy advertising space for 12 months on my truck, help get my truck into top working order, etc.
I have not undertaken something like this for nearly 20 years so I am a bit out of practice.
The rally is covering 3000 - 3500 miles through 10 countries in about 12 days.
I could do with all the help I can get so if you are interested please PM me.
Thanks
Pete

You're not a milion miles away. What sort of things do you need?
-
I will draw up a list but at the moment I need some welding on the rear floor pan, replacing instrument panel, electric fan fitting, help with the brakes and anything else I can find.
My main problem is that I do not have a garage or anywhere undercover to work. I am going to make some enquiries to see if I can get a secure place.

I'll drop you a PM with some details. I can certainly advise with most of that and as it's a worthy cause I'd like to see you do well.

I can help you out with a thermostat for your electric fan.

ahhh yes that is true,
i have participated in the landy rally, 3 times now
(once as event manager and twice as a team )
( a completly differant rally set up by a completely differant person )
although interestingly all of the organising tem for this new rally participated in the landy rally the year previous ... hmmmm :-k
anyway back to the origional post,
as for pointers,
keep it simple,
dont panic
keep sense of humor at all times
ensure team spray is always in a fully orperational condition  [ experiance proves ]

Wizard,
Thank you for your offer :D, I have everything I need to do the job, I just don't have a dry, secure building to do all the jobs in. I need one so I can leave POH (my truck) inside without having to finish rebuild the job and pack all my kit away :'(
