Don't see why not, as you say you don't use your left leg anyway so it shouldn't make any difference. All the Police tend to worry about is whether you're in full control of the vehicle.

Could you drive before the broken ankle  Sorry, just reminded me of the 'can I play the piano in this pub joke'

Ask your doctor, ask your insurance company, cover your back!

With a broken ankle, the question I'd ask is wether you want to drive. Injured joint+in a cast+sitting up with foot under the level of the body+inmobile=painful throbing aedema (inflamation with fluid scaping to places where it shouldn't be).

In all honesty, sit back with your leg up for at least a couple of weeks. When you can walk without crutches, you might be ready to drive. Before that, you are tempting fate (medically, not legally) and quite likely hampering your recovery.

NO!!!

How much do you value your ankle working?   A lot more than a couple of weeks not driving I presume?

Sit back, relax and let it heal before using it.

A broken wrist is a different kettle of broken altogether - you need both hands to drive (in theory at least) whereas an automatic only needs one good foot.

Your doctor was right .. the insurance company was irresponsible .. and (if you drove) you were recklessly stupid

Of course the insurance company won't stop you from diving but they'll use the injury to wriggle out of any claim you might make. You're analysis on that score was right  :D

dont see why not  as u dont use the other foot for auto however like one of them said could trap it somewhere in the foot well, personally let the wife drive say you feel depressed you cant drive go to pub get [!Expletive Deleted!] and get her to drive you home later (not like milking it is fun   )

Personally I wouldn't drive.

I would imagine that the medication you are on would be frowned upon if you were stopped by the local constabulary.

The insurance company don't legally get a say in it as they are not qualified to comment, it is purely up to the doctor to declare you fit to drive, if he says yes then you can legally drive!

If a Doctor has told you not to drive and has documented that in your medical records dont drive. In the event of an accident you medical records could be called upon if the injury was implicated in the accident.

a friend tore the ligament in his leg last year and he hired an auto car for a few months whilst he was in cast and hobbling around on crutches.

Just let your insurance company know, you should be fine.

I know someone who is driving around with his leg in a massive metal frame after shattering his leg.
