Title: Disco 300 v8 problems when started
Post by: stevepage3 on February 23, 2010, 12:17:06
Hi

I have just acquired a Disco 3.9 v8 when you first start it up it seems to hunt with the revs going up and down, once you rev it  a couple of times it seems to settle down. Is this normal ?

my old v8's used to pop and mis-fire and struggle to pick revs up like u said rev up or in my case was choke, and it was fine i thought all v8's did it, possible check you plugs to see if the mixture is still ok could be bad plugs, ht leads. or try seeing your local garage and get a proffesional opinion and see what there guesses are

Muck out the idle stepper motor plunger and its housing as the first action

Hey, if it starts every time and runs fine once started, who cares?

Seriously though, the stepper motor controls the idle speed IF the throttle plate was set up properly, often they are bodged by incompetant LPG installers!

Also the EFi will run a fast idle if it detects a low voltage during cranking, to put a bit of charge back into the battery.
