who make couple posts then sell their truck in for sale section :-.
-
Cus they have the stark realisation that they are a landy owner and need to get shot pronto to buy a propper 4x4?
>>>>runs....

Daihatsu , disco, def 90 in the last week with less than 5 posts :lipsrsealed:
-
Could be that all the 4x4's which were bought over the winter are coming back onto the market?
-
Or looking to move some dodgy gear
-
or using mc as another way to sell thier 4x4. o be honest, what better market to aim at than 4x4 lovers? No use advertising a 4x4 on a vw beetle web site is there? And it is free on here then why not?

Noi Suzukis for sale then LOL

dont have a problem with it myself, would anyone complain if a first post was a wanted ad and an older member could sell them what they need? or what if you wanted what the newbie is trying to sell, would you rather wait a couple of months for it because they havnt advertised it? just my opinion
-
This happens all the time on this forum in particular.
to be honest most other forums have a limit like "must have posted at least 30 times before being able to sell something"
i have mentioned this on here before.
-
...but then we get 30 monkey posts like "me too" or ":)"
Pointless.

only if they don't find the word association thread :D
My feeling is when I see the ad for anything from a new member I am suspicious from the get go as that is my nature, least you can read posts of standing members to get an impression of if you want to trade with them or not. Apart from that it just plain rude to sign up place ad with no intention of any other input. My OP on this thread was to see what others opinions are if any. Pre-posting limit is a bit dim, can only be policed with active moderation to see if member is genuine or fly-by-night - who the hell wants to do that. Would be nice to have a rating system for sellers though, sell something to a forum member and get a ebay like feedback.
-
Saffy,
The rating system sounds like a path to meander down :)
-
I think Saffy is right, all I'd say is if it's a new member then yeah, great if they are selling what you want then fantastic, just remember you don't know them from adam and will have less protecxtion than buying from E-Bay.
Whereas if it's a long-established member or even better someone at your local meet then that is really what clubs are all about isn't it?
But yes I think sometimes a recomendation form other members would inspire confidence/legitemise some sellers. I don't think we need a post limit, or rather as Thrasher says we get a forum full of spam.
"Buyer beware" would be my advice.
As for why they are hitting the market, well the recesion is still biting, people who have kept their jobs might be thinking of spending now that Christams is done with or might be buying a summer toy. I just sold a classic Ford for a decent price because this is the time of year to sell that type of car.

Well said Andi.

Like me RRb - when i got you those bumpers from the Alton down south ;)
