Title: I'm in dog house
Post by: Saffy on March 20, 2010, 11:02:45
Her car needs to go in for new pad and discs because she waits last minute before doing anything like servicing or get me the bits so i can do it for her, so I offered to follow her to quickfit on Monday and take her on to work and pick her up to go collect car.... but the question is asked "why can't I jsut take your defender to work and you go kwikfit in the colt?" and before I could stop myself I said "because I do not trust you with MY truck"   :scold: :help:

last time she borrowed it she reversed into a car and caused 2k damage to other car and I never said a unkind word. previous times she has run out of diesel, got me to drive 40 miles in S1 to investigate a funny noise with steering, overheated and killed the original engine. It not that I don't trust her with my toy it's that I don't fully trust my toy with her (I'm aware of the carpet that rides over accelartor pedal, I'm ready for that leaky clutch master to fail, I know how to release the handbrake when it catches, I KNOW WHERE FRICKEN TEMP GAUGE IS). Trouble is she pays for its fuel, insurance and tax so am on shakey ground

I think I have to take credit for my truck having survived for so long. It used to be my Dad's car. While he had it there were attempts to drive under a rail bridge that was slightly too low (horrible bang but no visible harm) and a failed overtaking attempt ending up in a grass verge.

Oddly enough, I won't let him near it now!

After my other half drove mine hard as hell in low box on the road I won't let her near it!!

Tried to drive it like a car! Blew the top hose, seized the water pump and cooked the oil!!

And now today its become a bone of contention as we're looking for a new house and unless the garage door is big enough to get a Disco on 235/85's through i'm saying no!! She's getting a bit peed now!

well she started speaking to me this morning - so promptly fixed that by buying another 110 defender this afternoon - oh such bliss is a potnoodle sunday dinner alone in garden shed.
